• Abel Online Deals & Pricing During School or Public Holidays

  Abel’s Famous Online Advertised Rates are available when booked online for pick up Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday, Friday and Saturday incur premium charges on all vehicles. Rentals during School Holidays, Public Holidays, and Christmas & Easter periods are subject to higher rental rates. Rates are based on Abel’s availability levels at the time of booking online or over the phone in-line with all major competitors. (Avis, Budget, Thrifty, Hertz, Europcar & Redspot)

• Abel’s Online Bookings Incur No Fees and Charges

  Abel’s fees and charges are already built into the great daily rates you see online. Any additional options added to the daily rate may be subject to administration charges.

• We Guarantee to Beat ANY Major Competitor

  Avis, Budget, Thrifty, Hertz, Europcar or Redspot unless the required vehicle class is unavailable or booked out at time of making your reservation. Please send a copy of the quote to our reservation centre in order to secure the booking.

• Abel Rent A Car Does Not Sell Insurance!

  Abel Rent A Car does not sell insurance…. it simply offers the customer the option to reduce their damage liability in the event of a multi vehicle accident. This product is available at the time of rental vehicle pickup.

• Security Bonds & How They Work

  The bond (which is $500 for all vehicles) is required for every rental, it is not held by Abel. It’s simply verification to us that there are funds available and the credit card is legitimate. The amount is held by your bank and is released depending on their release schedule. Abel is never in control of the location or the release of these funds. The release time is within 7 business days if you bank with NAB, CBA, Westpac or ANZ; within 14 business days if you bank with BOQ, Suncorp, St George, Citibank, Heritage, BankWest or Bendigo. All credit unions or international banks can take up to 21 business days. Please note: Abel does not accept pre-paid Visa or Master cards or Load and Go debit cards.

• Rental Duration

  Each rental day period is 24 hours. If the vehicle is returned between one and two hours late, one-third of the rental rate will be charged. If it is returned between two and three hours late, two-thirds of the rental will be charged. If the vehicle is returned three hours late (or more), then a full day’s rental is charged. Any and all options are charged at the daily rate. If the vehicle is not returned by the time noted on the rental agreement the vehicle will be deemed as stolen by the renter and reported to police. Extending the rental duration is possible at time of check out or during the rental itself. You will need to contact, or come in person to the original location. The extension is subject to vehicle availability and additional payment. Any extension request may incur a premium extension fee, depending on the class of vehicle and the availability. Payment must be made and signed on the day of extension either by credit card, or in cash at the location that you hired from.

• Refund Policy

  Abel has a no refund policy. When renting a vehicle, please rent according to your plans as there are no refunds for early returns. If you find your circumstances change please contact the location at which you hired from to discuss.

• Cancellations / No Shows

  Abel prefers not to charge its customers a cancellation fee, however if the reservation is cancelled or you fail to collect your rental vehicle a cancellation fee is charged to the credit card. Cancellation fees are part of the Travel, Airline, Hotel and Rental Industries and Abel, in line with its major competitors, reserves the right to charge a cancellation fee. • Additional Drivers

  Additional drivers who are listed on the Rental Agreement under the Additional Drivers section (and have presented their current driver’s licence at the time of collecting the vehicle) are protected under the Terms & Conditions of the Rental Agreement. • Refuelling

  Your vehicle will be supplied with a full tank of fuel in most cases. We ask that you return your rental vehicle full of fuel, or the renter / credit card holder will be charged a refuelling fee. Click here to see a list of Abel’s Fee Schedule.

• Smoking in Abel Rental Vehicles

  Abel Rent a Car encourages a No Smoking policy in all our vehicles and therefore Smoking is not permitted in any Abel Rent A Car vehicle. Any Renter found to have smoked in an Abel Rental Vehicle will incur additional charges. Click here to see a list of Abel’s Fee Schedule.

• Roadside Assistance

  All Abel’s vehicles are covered by 24hr Roadside Assistance. Please contact the location BEFORE arranging any Roadside Assistance. Roadside Assistance does not cover non-mechanical defects such as lost keys, keys locked in the vehicle, a flat battery due to lights being left on etc. Costs charged to Abel Rent A Car will be on-charged to the vehicle renter. • Street Directory

  Street Directories are available on request subject to availability.

• Tolls & Traffic Infringement Charges

  It is the responsibility of the renter to ensure that all traffic; parking and toll charges are paid during the rental period according to the laws and regulations placed in Queensland. If and when Abel Rent a Car is notified of an infringement during or after the rental, Abel will; without notice charge to your credit card an administration fee to cover the costs as per the Terms and Conditions signed at the time of rental. • Discount Vouchers

  Discount vouchers are not accepted on web rates or online specials.

Standard Financial Responsibility

• Standard Collision Damage Liability

  All of our rental vehicles are insured. The renter/hirer credit card holder is given the benefit of this coverage and is subject to the conditions of the rental agreement. There is a Standard Multi Vehicle Damage Liability of:

  • Small Passenger Vehicles – $3300 including GST
  • Light Commercials / Utes – $4400 including GST
  • Commercial Moving Trucks – $6600 including GST

  This is included with all standard daily rates in the event of an accident with another vehicle.

• Reduce Your Financial Liability for Peace of Mind

  All damage liability amounts are payable at the time of returning the vehicle otherwise insurance/claims is void. Abel Rent A Car offers you the option to reduce your Multi Vehicle Damage Liability to the following:

  • Small Passenger Vehicles – $660 including GST
  • Light Commercials / Utes – $880 including GST
  • Commercial Moving Trucks – $1200 including GST

• Single Vehicle Damage

  Abel Rent A Car does not cover any Single Vehicle Accident/Incident Damage in any case. Renters/Hirers/Credit Card Holders are advised that all rollovers, overhead, undercarriage, water, hail damage, abuse, negligence, off road/beach driving; however caused; is at the hirers risk and is not covered by any Liability Damage Waivers. Please note that insurance is void if the rental car or vehicle is driven on unsealed roads.

• Tyre & Windscreen

  By electing to include Tyre & Windscreen cover, you have a zero liability in the event the front windscreen was to be broken (does not cover any side mirrors, windows or rear windscreen) or any of the tyres were to be punctured (does not cover any rims or hubcaps) Click here to see Abel’s Fee Schedule.

• Disclaimer

  Abel Rent A Car and its franchisees – and licensed agents: Reserves the right to refuse vehicle rental to any customers, deemed not to be suitable to hire a vehicle at the time of vehicle pick up. Abel reserves the right to change any of the above mentioned rates and/or terms & conditions without notice. Abel Rent A Car does not sell insurance! All optional Waiver Products are underwritten by Abel Rent A Car. We will not be held liable or responsible for any items or property stolen, lost or damaged in any case. Abel operates under a franchise system which is operated by individual franchisees and licensed agents in each location.
